Back in May, I had the absolute privilege of travelling over to the U.S to capture the amazing wedding of Gina & Oliver. Up to this point, I had shot a handful of destination weddings but nothing quite this far afield. Rochester, NY is right up on the Canadian border and about 60 miles from Niagara Falls, which I also managed to sneak in a little visit too whilst there as well as meeting some old friends for beers, it was a great start to the trip. The evening before the wedding, Gina & Oliver showed me around their hometown (Oliver’s adopted home, he’s a Brit too) and I got to shoot a small pre-wed session with them on the streets of Rochester.
The wedding itself was actually not dissimilar to a wedding in the UK (I’m not sure why I thought it would be). It was full of family warmth, excitable bridesmaids, a beautiful ceremony, heartfelt speeches oh and dancing, ok maybe the dancing was on another level to anything I’ve seen here in the UK, mainly because a lot of their friends are professional dancers, as is Gina. So yeah, the dance floor rocked.
All in all, a pretty special time in a cool place with some beautiful American’s (and Brit’s). Hope you enjoy these….
