The Best of Wedding Photography 2012 – 2021
It’s fair to say the last 12 months has been a mess. Or more accurately, “a once in a lifetime utter sh*t-show!!”
It’s been tough, at times really really tough! But, we are still here as a family, happy and healthy and I am really grateful for that. I know not every family will be able to say the same and I am always thinking about the thousands of people this past year has been even worse for!
One thing that has been proven over the past year and all the way through this pandemic is that we need to be connected. We crave connection with the people we love the most and even with complete strangers. There’s a reason we miss going to the pub or a festival or a wedding! You can have a beer at home and watch a live stream of a concert but we aren’t conneted to the other people sharing the same experience. We need that!
Personally, not doing the job I love for a whole year has made me realise how much I miss those connections, both documenting them and being a part of them. So, last year I started looking back through my archives and the 300+ weddings I’ve shot. It was really cathartic and while it made me miss being at weddings and taking photographs it did connect me back to all of those amazing days and brilliant couples that put their trust in me to capture them at their happiest. So, I decided to collate a collection of some of my favourites from the past 9 years. Now, I must emphasise the word ‘some’! If I included every photo I pulled into the favourites folder this post would have around 500 images in it! So, I had to narrow it down but trust me, I have favourites from every single wedding I’ve ever shot!
It’s now April 2021 and it appears there is light at the end of the tunnel, that we will creep out of this dark shadow and be with each other again. I really really hope that all of the weddings I have booked for this year will go ahead and I know they will be as beautiful as every other wedding I’ve been lucky enough to capture over the last 9 years. Here’s to being re-connected….
